The free 15 minute consult

A short video or phone call, just to meet and get a sense of whether we might be a good fit. I’ll invite you to share a little about what’s been going on, as much or as little as you feel comfortable sharing. You don’t need to know exactly what you’re struggling with or what you want to work on yet. We can figure that out together.

I’ll also tell you a little about what it’s like to work with me and how I approach therapy. You can ask me anything, including the awkward questions.

There’s nothing you need to prepare, and there’s no obligation at the end.

2

Your first full session

Fifty minutes to begin getting to know you and your story. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your history, the patterns you’ve noticed, the relationships and experiences that have shaped you, and what you might want to work on. I’ll ask questions along the way, and we’ll begin making sense of things together.

You don’t need to have everything figured out, and you’re never expected to share anything before you’re ready. Getting to know you is something we continue to build over the first few sessions, not something we have to accomplish all at once.

What a typical session feels like

Think of it as sitting beside each other, looking at what’s happening, rather than me sitting across from you diagnosing it. We talk, we slow down when something lands, we get curious about what’s underneath, and we practice new ways of responding. Sometimes there is homework. Sometimes there is laughing.

My approach is warm, curious, and down-to-earth. I don’t believe people are broken, and I don’t believe you have to stay stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. Therapy can be a place to understand yourself more deeply, make sense of what you’ve been carrying, and begin creating something that feels different.

You don’t have to know exactly how to get there yet. That’s something we can figure out together.

4

How often, and for how long

Most people start weekly, then move to every other week as things settle. Sessions run Monday through Thursday.

How long people stay varies a lot. Some come for a few months around one specific thing, while others stay longer for deeper work. We revisit your goals and progress together regularly and adjust the frequency or focus of therapy as your needs change.

5

What “trauma-informed and mind-body” means in practice

In practice, it means we go at your pace and never force a story out of you. We pay attention to what your body is doing, not just what your thoughts are saying, because tight shoulders, a racing heart, or feeling shut down can be information too.

We also get curious about the ways you’ve learned to cope. Maybe you overthink, people-please, shut down, stay in control, or have a hard time trusting yourself. Rather than judging these responses or trying to get rid of them, we work together to understand where they came from and what you might need now. Along the way, we may use grounding tools, mindfulness, and parts work when they feel helpful and fit the work we’re doing. More on parts work →

If it turns out not to be a fit

Fit matters more than credentials, and you are allowed to say so. If I am not the right therapist for you, tell me at any point and I will help you find someone who is, including clinicians who take your insurance.

No hard feelings, ever. That is part of the job.

“You are not a problem to be fixed.”
Therapy can help you understand yourself more deeply, loosen patterns that no longer serve you, and move toward a life that feels more like your own. Healing is not linear. We work at a pace that feels right for you.
Still not sure? That is a fine reason to book.
Fifteen minutes, free, and you can ask me anything on this page in your own words.
